UCM
was founded in 1991 based on three basic tenets. First, even the
most informed and sophisticated utility customers cannot effectively
monitor the accuracy of their charges due to the complexity and
oft-changing nature of the utility rates and regulations. Second,
utility providers face the difficult task of applying these complex rates
and regulations to millions of customers whose usage and operating
characteristics are themselves frequently changing - consequently, billing
errors are common. And third, utility providers have no financial
incentive to catch errors or monitor the accuracy of their charges. This is the void that UCM fills.
UCM's business philosophy is simple: Provide tangible value to the
client with no hassle and at a fair price. The tangible value comes
in the form of the refunds and cost savings we obtain for our clients.
We accomplish this without significant demands on our clients' time
or resources. And we only get paid if we are successful, i.e.,
if the client receives a refund or cost reduction. Tangible value,
no hassle, fair price.
By
adhering to this simple philosophy, UCM has thrived and grown over the
years. In its early years, UCM's clients were primarily small
businesses located in the San Francisco Bay Area. As its staff and
knowledge expanded, UCM began serving larger business, institutional and
government clients from San Diego to Eureka. Presently UCM is a
leading provider of utility bill analysis in California.
